A High Note

The day certainly ended on a high note as I've just returned from a magnificent performance of Handel's Messiah. What a moving way to kick off the fourth week of Advent! Amazing to think Handel wrote the piece in three weeks. It's unbelievably beautiful, powerful, and has held up remarkably well these last 270 years. And the Message couldn't be clearer. Hallelujah!

The ensemble was a blend of Koreans and Expats, and the performance took place at Chung-Dong First Methodist Church, which I've come to learn is an historical landmark. Such a pretty building in a serene setting -hard to come by around here. I sat three rows behind the US Ambassador, Kathleen Stephens, but was too shy to say hello.

Will sleep well tonight after listening to such glorious music.
